A sealant consisting of a blend of liquid polysulphide polymer, plasticisers and fillers. When mixed with the curing agent it forms a tough, flexible, durable rubber like material, which adheres to most common construction surfaces such as concrete, brickwork, metal, glass and tiling.
Masterflex® 700 is suitable for applications to joints 6–40 mm wide.
For porous substrates, minimum sealant depth is 10 mm, non-porous substrates, 6 mm.
Joint back-up/ filler:
For horizontal joints a minimum depth of 12 mm should be maintained and for joints subject to traffic or hydraulic pressure, the minimum depth should be 20 mm. Joints subject to cyclic movement, should ideally be designed to an optimum width/ depth ratio of 2:1.
In expansion joints, it is essential to use bond breaking tape on the edge of the filler board or a non-bonding support material, to prevent adhesion.
Primer:
- Masterflex Primer No 1: Use on porous substrates.
- Masterflex Primer No 2: Use on non-porous surfaces in critical conditions such as constant immersion.
Masterflex 700 is supplied in two grades; gun grade for vertical, overhead and general application and pouring grade for horizontal joints.
