Technical services such as lighting, ventilation, cooling, fire protection, power, data, loudspeakers, signs & screening and junctions with walls/other elements require planning, design & specification. Services can be concentrated to utilise ceiling height, kept in linear zones for easy access and positioned symmetrically in tile centres or at tiles' edges. Junctions with other elements can accommodate curves and uneven edges by the use of trim and friezes and the cutting of tiles. Services units require an appropriate amount of space, mechanical strength, for example with lighting, and coordination with the suspended ceiling for service outlets such as ventilation and cooling. Cut-outs for service penetrations are easily made in the ceiling tiles.
