Manufactured in the UK by APL, a
range of aluminium and steel
profiles designed for roofing and
wall cladding of commercial
buildings. Profiles are offered in a
wide choice of colours and finished
as PVF, polyester, Plastisol etc.
APL have also designed and
patented a number of systems
designed to bring efficiencies and
economies to construction and
performance of the building
envelope. These include
'StrongBak⢠' SFS-structural wall
framing system,
'Tritherm⢠' cavity
spacer systems and
'APL Energi
Systems⢠' for walls and roofs.
As part of their commitment to
developing cost-efficient cladding
systems APL commissioned an
independent report from Building
Sciences Consultancy entitled
'Evaluation and Audit of Energy
savings for Non-Domestic Buildings
using improved metal cladding
systems'. The report includes the
optimum performance level of 0.14
for roofs and 0.20 for walls, with
various options illustrated from 0.25
and 0.35 with iSEBM calculations
and detailed cost models. An
'Executive Summary' of this report is
available via the APL website.

DESCRIPTION
Wall and roof cladding profiles
The exclusive AP 50/45/18 are
half-round (sinusoidal) profiles from
the APL family of 'niche profiles',
with their self-cleaning half-round
shape being used with dramatic
effect across a whole range of
building designs. There is also a
wide range of 16 other trapezoidal
profiles including 8 no. deep decking
profiles up to 200 mm deep.
Acoustic and energy roof
systems
Various profiled and flat linings,
including long span (up to 10 m)
structural decking and/or acoustic
type, can be incorporated together
with insulation type and thickness to
meet specific thermal and acoustic
performance requirements.
Tritherm composite sandwich
panel systems
Tritherm Slimwall IPW panel system
is a non-combustible Rockfibre (RW)
filled composite microline panel.
Standing seam and secret clip fix
roofs
Incorporating aluminium halters (zip
seam) and stainless steel clips (Scf) -
both suitable for very low roof pitches
down to 1.5° laid pitch and giving a
strong defined rib appearance -
probably the most economic of
these types of systems currently
available. In addition, smooth in situ
self-curving is available.
Hugely cost-efficient and elegant
construction design options
can be achieved by incorporating
'slim' verge overhangs, eaves
and parapets - using the APL
patented Tritherm Spacer System.
