Burlington Slate offers a range of English stone for interior furniture such as vanity units and decorative features and fittings
such as worksurfaces.
Introduction  Burlington Slate Ltd is
a family owned company that
extracts and works stone from
several quarries in the English Lake
District. As each quarry provides a
different stone with its own
characteristic appearance the
company can offer the specifier a
wide choice of stones and colours.
Extraction is by use of diamond wires
with cutting by laser guided
machinery in the company's modern
workshops. Further shaping and
finishing is by local craftsmen to meet
customer and project requirements.
Authority  Burlington Slate operates
a BS EN ISO 9001 quality
assurance system.
Green issues  The use of diamond
wire extraction avoids the use of
blasting, creating less damage and
intrusion on the environment.
DESCRIPTION

of a number of decorative edge
profiles and preformed cut-outs for

head,
sanded: where sawn slabs are
coarsely polished to give a
semi-smooth regular finish,
riven/cleft: a traditional treatment
where the stone is riven along its
line of cleavage to reveal its natural
grain,
gritblasted: a finish similar to cleft,
but available on slabs of greater size,
flamed: where the top surface of the
slab is burned off giving an
irregular textured finish,
