DESCRIPTION
Alumasc Green Roof systems
broadly fall into 4 categories:
Alumasc Extensive Green Roofs
are low maintenance, lightweight
systems where hardy succulents are
planted in shallow substrate depths,
typically 70-100 mm. They provide a
range of ecological and
environmental benefits, mostly
without the need for irrigation.
Alumasc Biodiverse Roofs share
many characteristics with extensive
roofs. A shallow substrate, typically
50-150 mm, is specified to provide a
habitat suitable for desirable specific
flora (e.g. indigenous species) and
fauna (e.g. endangered species).
Alumasc Semi-Intensive Green
Roofs can include a greater variety
of plants and shrubs without
significantly increasing loads.
Build-up height is typically
100-200 mm.
Alumasc Intensive Green Roofs
allow virtually limitless landscaping
variety - creating amenity space at
roof level (e.g. roof garden) or at
ground level (e.g. reclamation of
dockland). The greater depth of
substrate (typically 150-1500 mm)
can support a wide variety of plants
and trees.

Applications
Extensive and Biodiverse Roofs are
ideal ecological coverings for
lightweight roof decks, inaccessible
roofs, flat or sloping roofs.
Biodiverse roof specifications can
attain BREEAM credits by creating
specific habitats, whilst Extensive
roofs can score credits for
stormwater management.
Intensive roofs are akin to domestic
gardens or small urban parks -
usually consisting of a mixture of
hard and soft landscaping - either at
roof level or, when creating
additional amenity space at a
redevelopment, at ground level.
Accessories A single source
solution includes a choice of
Alumasc's root-resistant waterproof
coverings and a range of trims,
drainage outlets, inspection
chambers, PV support frames,
handrails and fall-arrest systems.
ECONOMICS
Alumasc Green Roofs pay back the
initial investment by prolonging the
life of the underlying waterproofing.
Alumasc waterproofing warranties
are available for 10, 15 or 25 years.
