Harmer SML fully conforms to 
BS EN 877, the European standard 
for cast iron pipes and fittings, and 
is the subject of Agrément Cert. 
No. 05/4191 for couplings, pipes 
and fittings above ground. Excellent 
acoustic performance tested to 
BS EN 14366: 2004.

Description
Harmer SML is a lightweight, 
dry-jointed system at the leading edge 
of cast iron technology. The system is 
quick to install and easy to maintain.

Harmer SML consists of coated, 
socketless cast iron pipes and 
fittings simply joined with either 
ductile iron or stainless steel 
rubber-lined couplings. The range 
also includes bracketry for 
restraining the pipework vertically 
and supporting it horizontally, along 
with a choice of special connectors 
for linking with other materials.

Harmer SML 50 mm - 400 mm 
diameter pipe sizes.

Appearance
Pipes and fittings are manufactured 
in grey iron to DIN 1691 (exceeds 
BS 1452 Grade 150 ISO 185 
Grade 15). 
Pipe's exterior has a primer coat, 
minimum thickness 40 µm. Pipe's 
interior has an epoxy coating with a 
minimum thickness of 120 µm. 
Fittings are coated externally and 
internally with an epoxy coating, 
minimum thickness 60 µm. The 
epoxy coatings ensure pipes and 
fittings need minimal maintenance 
throughout their lifetime.

Harmer SML couplings are 
available in either ductile cast iron or 
stainless steel and meet the 
requirements of BS EN 877. The 
internal pressure performance of 
couplings ranges from 0.5 bar to 
10 bar. All couplings feature EPDM 

elastomeric seals as standard. 
Neoprene rubber seals are available 
on request.

Installation
Duomat Fixing Tool
Suitable for all power tools, the 
Duomat Fixing Tool is recommended 
for securing Harmer SML couplings. 
Bolts can be tightened simultaneously 
with precision.

Description
Harmer LCC is a traditional 
socketed cast iron pipe system 
produced to imperial dimensions. It 
has been created for use in building 
refurbishment and restoration 
projects where faithful reproduction 
of period detail is required.

The Harmer LCC range includes an 
extensive choice of fittings and 
accessories, providing great 
flexibility in installation. Special 
detailing requirements can be 
catered for through Alumasc's 
fabrication and pattern making 
workshops. Alumasc can also weld 
cast iron, so that fittings or offsets to 
suit a particular situation can be 
specially fabricated where the 
alternative of making a pattern 
would not be economic.

Harmer LCC 50, 63, 75, 87, 100 mm 
diameter pipe sizes.

Appearance
Harmer LCC is manufactured from 
cast iron.  Pipes and fittings are 
factory-dipped in bitumen in 
accordance with BS 416.

contact Alumasc Technical Services 
for advice.

Installation
Holderbats for plugging and 
screwing to walls are available.  
Bobbins are used to pack out 
holderbats to provide painting gap.  
For fixing centres, refer to BS 8000: 
Maximum distance between sanitary 
pipe supports, Table 1. Pipe joints 
should be made using a caulking of 
6 mm diameter fibreglass yarn with 
a minimum 38 mm thickness of lead 
wool, well compacted.
