Kerto

(laminated veneer lumber)
Finnforest UK Ltd
Introduction Dimensionally
precise, technically advanced and
lightweight, Kerto is a worthy
alternative to today's steel and
concrete construction solutions.
Used as a structural panel, or beam,
Kerto delivers exceptional performance
whilst maintaining the natural beauty
of wood. Kerto is simple and fast to
install saving time and money.
The beauty of Kerto
The natural beauty of wood is
something very few other construction
materials are able to compete against.
With Finnforest's Kerto it is now
possible to combine structural
strength and rigidity with one of
nature's greatest products.
Key strengths
Lie in the manufacturing process:
· Produced from 3 mm thick rotary
peeled softwood veneers which
are then glued together to form
continuous 1.8 or 2.5 m wide strips
in thickness from 21 to 90 mm
and a maximum length of 26 m
· The result is an engineered
wood product that maintains the
natural beauty of wood whilst
being dimensionally strong
enough for all types of
construction applications
· Producing Kerto (LVL) in this way
allows defects associated with
non-engineered timbers, such as
knots, twisting, splitting and
warping to be eliminated -
resulting in a product engineered
to the highest quality standards
DESCRIPTION
Kerto is available in two main types:
Kerto-S
Perfect for beams and columns,
Kerto-S (LVL) has all its veneers
laid with the grain running in the
same direction. The result is a
material that is highly resistant to
compression making it a perfect
choice for beams and columns.
Suitable for loadbearing applications
Kerto-S is a natural substitute for
steel or concrete and is particularly
suited to applications that require
long spans with minimal deflection.
Kerto-S produces structural beams
and columns that are highly effective
and aesthetically pleasing, creating
a sense of light and natural beauty.
Its structural strength and natural
beauty make it an ideal material for
use in public spaces such as halls,
sports facilities and multi-storey
timber buildings.
Kerto-Q
Ideal for structural panels, with
approximately 20% of its veneers
laid at 90°, Kerto-Q benefits from
exceptional shearing qualities. This
makes it an ideal choice for a
structural panel where loadbearing
and shearing qualities are essential.
Due to its cross-laid veneer
structure, delivering additional
stiffness, Kerto-Q is an ideal choice
for structural panelling and can add
to the structural stability of a
building.
The cross-laid veneers also deliver
the added benefit of enhanced
resistance to moisture induced
movement.
The result - a product of outstanding
beauty and structural performance
unmatched by its rivals.
