Introduction Comar is one of the
largest privately owned commercial
architectural systems companies in

manufactures its own systems which

Authority The company is a
BS Registered Firm to
BS EN ISO 9001. It is a member of
the CAB (Council for Aluminium in
Buildings), the GAI (Guild of
Architectural Ironmongers) and the
CWCT (Centre of Window and
Cladding Technology) and is an
associate member of the National
Association of Shopfitters. All
systems conform to many of the
requirements of BS 4873. In the
absence of British Standards for
framing, Comar framework and
doors conform to industry standards
adopted by Trade Associations
e.g. CAB.
Comar 1 single glazed aluminium
framework system
Applications This low-rise façade
system is suitable for shopfronts,
entrances and partitions.
Description The system comprises
a large range of system profiles and
interacting components that offers
flexibility, variety and durability.
It has a range of glazing options
from 4 - 13.5 mm thick glass with
optional glazing beads and carriers
for special conditions. A choice of
aluminium door configurations with
fingerguard options from the
Comar 7 range and aluminium
windows from the Comar 5 range is
available.
Composition, manufacture
Box sections are formed from 2-part
channels and plate mullions to form
modular sash construction. All main
extrusions have 4 screw fixing ports.
Comar 3 double glazed aluminium
framework system
Applications Comar 3 is suitable
for storefronts, entrances and
partitions.
Description Comar 3 offers 3-way
glazing in a choice of glass/panel

thicknesses and variable corner
angles. Recessed glazing pockets
and a range of gasket profiles
accept glazing from 22.5 - 32 mm
thickness. Optional beads and
carriers are supplied for special
conditions. Additional profiles enable

returns and variable
corner angles. Sill sections provide
drainage to the exterior. Comar 3
accepts aluminium doors from the
Comar 7 range and aluminium
windows from the Comar 5 range.

Comar 8 single/double glazed
storefront, entrance and partition
system
Description The Comar 8
fin/beaded system offers choices of
variable angle corners, sash rails
and 3-way glazing. Internal glazing
against a 15 mm high fin affords
maximum security but external
glazing is available. Clip-in beads
with loose or fixed fins and a choice
of gaskets enable the fitting of
glazing/panels of thickness
6 - 35 mm. Optional beads and
carriers are available for special
conditions. Loose fins and
double-headed profiles alleviate the
notching of mullions.

Comar 7 swing, sliding and
folding doors
Description This range offers
elegant, strong and durable swing,
sliding and folding doors in a choice
of configurations. A range of rail and
stile sizes enables design scope
and square-cut rails produce almost
invisible joints. Above and below
beam clip-fit profiles offer single or
double glazing or box capping.
External glazing beads are
mechanically fixed to rebates and
glazing of 4 - 40 mm thickness is set
dry against glazing tape or EPDM
gasket and retained by clip-in
beads. Multiple brush seals ensure
excellent levels of weathertightness.
A choice of drained thresholds is
offered.
Doors accept most automatic
operation systems and optional door
beams, which eliminate the need for
aluminium panels, and timber
packing and house operating gear,
are available.

Construction is bolted or, for
security, welded.
Weather Comar 7 doors when
tested to BS 6375 passed the
standard 600 Pascal and increased
1200 Pascal pressure
differential/water penetration tests.
Heat Comar 7P.i doors couple high
weather rating and polyamide
insulation to provide low U-values
that offer exceptional thermal
efficiency.
INFORMATION COMMON TO ALL
PRODUCTS
Composition, manufacture
Extruded profiles are of aluminium
alloy to BS EN 515, BS EN 573 and
EN 755-2, glazing gaskets are
extruded from EPDM and the
thermal barrier is of polyurethane
resin. Aluminium profiles are
anodised to BS EN 12373-1 or
BS 3987, liquid organic coated to
BS 4842 or polyester powder coated
to BS 6496.
Appearance Anodised finish is to
Anolok and Sandalor colour ranges.
Polyester powder coating is from the
extensive range of RAL and British
Standard colours.
