Perimeter protection was a key factor for the German Embassy in Serbia, as they planned their move into refurbished offices in Belgrade. In common with many eastern European sites, a sliding gate was specified via ARG Engineering, the Belgrade based contractor
working on this project. With recent attacks on foreign embassies around the world the requirement was for a proven crash tested product.
Having worked with Cova Security Gates on a previous perimeter security contract, ARG Engineering asked for assistance in meeting the client’s needs. Cova was able to fast track the development of their standard sliding cantilevered gate in time to deliver
a low cost, crash tested counter terror solution – the CSG 10140 Sliding Cantilevered Gate – which is capable of stopping a 7.5 tonne vehicle at 40 mph. The innovative design resulted in a crash tested gate of standard appearance, with the additional bonus
of low installation cost and minimal maintenance requirements.
As part of the service available, a Cova engineer travelled to Belgrade to install and commission the very first of this new sliding gate, supervising and working closely with the ARG team. On completion, the Embassy was delighted with a gate which complied
with the security need but also met the site’s aesthetic requirement.
