Decorative aluminium and stainless steel column casings, together with a 100 metre long horizontal bulkhead, have been supplied and installed by Encasement at Tesco’s new store in £40 million Swan Centre retail development in Yardley, Birmingham.
Constructed by Bowmer & Kirkland, the new Tesco store and twenty-one additional retail units provides around 170,000 sq.ft of retail space, with the mixed use regeneration scheme also including the refurbishment of an adjacent residential block.
Encasement supplied and installed a high level bulkhead, as well as eleven 600 mm square ‘Forma’ metal column casings, finished in two different colour schemes which also incorporate vertical channels to each side, allowing security shutters to be raised
and lowered.
Close to the entrance, three of the casings are finished in bright red to match Tesco’s corporate colours, and incorporate two textured 150 mm wide stainless steel strips at the base and mid level. The remaining eight casings, adjacent to the array of checkout
tills, are split 50/50, with the top half manufactured from aluminium coated in a PPC finish, and the lower portion using textured ‘linen’ pattern Rimex stainless steel to provide maximum protection from damage in this busy retail environment.
