A benchmark example of sustainable healthcare construction, King’s Mill Hospital in Nottinghamshire, has been given protection by leading tensile fabric structure manufacturer,
J & J Carter.

The hospital’s design required an ambulance canopy for the diagnostics and treatment centre that would protect waiting patients and crews arriving at the hospital from the elements, without blocking natural light from the building. In response J & J Carter created a cover that was delivered against strict budgetary restrictions and offers a specification that aligns with the scheme’s sustainability goals.

Robert Carter Director of J & J Carter commented, “The brief for the ambulance canopy was very specialist so we used our technical expertise to answer all the design, practicality and sustainability elements. We also adopted a flexible approach that allowed us to modify the original plans to suit the available budget. The result is an aesthetic addition to the hospital that incorporates innovative design touches, such as accommodating the lighting cables within the structure, and provides a practical and durable canopy.”

Located in Sutton-in-Ashfield in Nottinghamshire, King’s Mill Hospital has been praised as a benchmark example of sustainable healthcare construction. The development incorporates a wide range of innovative features to achieve a practical yet striking building with exemplary environmental performance.
