This seminar will provide you with an understanding of: - Fire safety legislation - The principles of fire safety engineering - Fire engineering tools (fire and evacuation modelling) - Fire safety systems - Fire safety management

The seminar is intended to answer why a fire strategy is or at least should be, and what it needs to address and cover. To addresss these queries, the seminar will introduce the audience to a framework for the development of a fire strategy as outlined within PAS 911. The seminar follows on from the other five seminars, as the information provided in these will be pulled together in a comprehensive and coherent framework, to ensure that all fire safety aspects are addressed. Lecture course 1) Understanding Fire Safety Legislation 2) Fire Safety Management and BS 9999 3) Fire Safety Engineering 4) Fire and Evacuation Modelling 5) Fire Protection systems 6) PAS 911 After the course, the attendees ahould be able to review a fire strategy and assess its contents to assist their design work.

The following lecture is intended to provide an introduction to Fire Safety Engineering. This seminar follows on from the the first two focusing on specific information as to when to apply fire engineering, how it can help architects, what is required and covers some of the tools a fire engineer has available and why a competent fire engineer is reguired. The course will cover: - Understanding fire sefety legislation and standards - Fire safety management and BS 999 - Fire and evacuation modelling - Fire protection systems After the course the attendees should be able to identify where they can use fire engineering to aid there design work and understand the approvals process
