There is a lot of mis-informaton in the market about the growing LED lighting technology. One of the key challenges is that LED lifetime performance is measured in a different way to conventional lighting technology. This has created a lot of confusion in the market. This presentation describes the process that the organisation representing the LED industry is establishing to prevent this confusion and enable apples to be compared with apples and not with pears

This seminar aims to introduce a new technology in lighting and lighting design, digital lighting using LEDs.

As with lifetime of LED light, there is also a lot of mis-information regarding the quality of LED lighting in terms of colour rendition, colour temperature consistency and other factors such as consistency in the light beam. Why is this important? We have become used to what conventional lighting can do, but without some understanding of what to look for in LED lighting then designers can find themselves specifying the wrong kind of lighting for the application and or not getting what they expected. In application such as retail this can mean not being able to see certain colours for example.
