Break-ins and theft are a constant threat to businesses, with just under 300,000 non-domestic burglary offences recorded in 2008. Whilst access points such as doors and windows can be heavily fortified, improving the overall security of the building fabric itself is far more difficult.

In response to this problem, building materials specialist Catnic has introduced SecuraMesh™ to its comprehensive range of premium building components. SecuraMesh™ is a sheet of expanded steel mesh which fits neatly into walls, ceilings and roofs, offering an extra layer of security to stop intruders in their tracks.

As well as protecting a building’s external façade, SecuraMesh™ can be used internally to provide added security to the most at-risk areas such as stock rooms, IT rooms or cashier kiosks. The diamond mesh profile is too small for bolt cutters and too strong for hand cutters, offering robust protection from break-ins.

Suitable for installation during initial construction or as a retrofit solution, SecuraMesh™ is flexible in its application, comes in a range of gauges and is available with additional corrosion protection if required. Discreet and easy to install, it can be concealed under a variety of finishes and therefore won’t detract visually from the property.

Benefits of SecuraMesh™

  • Concealed, robust protection from break-ins
  • Diamond mesh profile is too small for bolt cutters and too strong for hand cutters

  • Available in mild steel as standard or galvanised mild steel for additional corrosion protection
  • Manufactured in the UK.

Counting the cost of crime

Crime against business is a serious issue costing UK companies £12.6 billion a year according to the British Chambers of Commerce. Just as you might consider installing an alarm and security lighting as a preventative measure, reinforcing weak access points and valuable goods areas with SecuraMesh™ provides an additional layer of physical security to prevent forced access.

To achieve the additional protection offered by SecuraMesh™, installers must strictly adhere to the installation guidelines set out in Catnic's easy-to-follow brochure.
