KingPost is a cost-effective retaining wall system also known as 'Berlin Walls' and 'Soldier Piles'. The system has a huge range of both structural and non-structural applications. The retaining wall structure is formed by the vertical insertion of H beams in the ground; pre-stressed concrete panels are mounted between them. The use of pre-stressed rather than precast concrete panels results in a high strength/ size ratio, ensuring that units can be lighted and thinner than precast alternatives. The use of retaining wall systems on suburban development sites has increased as developers have tried to make maximum use of available space or design in underground structures. There are however many other applications for this system, including in flood defence walls and traffic screening.


  • Easy to handle component parts, pre-stressed concrete panels and H beams.
  • Ideal for sites with minimal space and/ or difficult access (e.g. railway embankments, cuttings).
  • Minimal risk of settlement and soil movement during installation process.
  • Minimal soil displacement, no arisings, which may incur muck-away cost.



KingPost Concrete Panels are available in various sizes from 100 x 70 mm to 215 x 290 mm and widths from 0.75–6.0 m.


The panels have a smooth (ex-steel mould) finish as standard. If special finishes or colours are required, including fair faced units or textured finishes, consult manufacturer.
