Glazed heat and smoke ventilator for flat roof applications which can be used day to day to provide ventilation, opening to a maximum of 45°. Upon activation of a fire alarm, the xVent automatically opens to 140° and cannot be closed whilst the fire alarm is activated. It is powered by an external 24 V power supply. In the event of mains failure back up batteries housed inside the rooflight base automatically take over. When running off the battery the xVent emits a periodic audible signal, and the LED control switch flashes red, to warn of mains power loss.

The xVent mechanisms have an encoder output which is used by the control electronics to achieve closed loop synchronization. The base is thermally broken, and filled with insulation to improve thermal performance. The xVent can be integrated into the Flushglaze for larger glazing requirements. It responds to both one touch and press and hold requests.

Standard product features

Frame material:

Extruded thermally broken aluminium profiles, grade 6063 T6.


  • Outer: 6 mm clear toughened heat soak tested.
  • Spacer: 16 mm black silicone sealed argon filled cavity, warm edge spacer.
  • Inner: 6 mm clear soft low E toughened heat soak tested.


  • Height: 150 mm.
  • Thickness: 200 mm.

Power supply:

External 24 V, 28 A, 750 W mains powered supply. Back up batteries fitted inside rooflight base will automatically take over in the event of mains failure.

Drive mechanism:

Motor driven parallel linkage mechanism with encoder feedback, manual over-ride accessible from the inside only.


Combination of inner silicone rubber seal and outer EPDM bubble seal.


Mechanism cannot be back driven due to motor gearing reduction, and mechanism cannot be disconnected from lid whilst closed from the outside. Rooflight base is sealed to upstand with polybutyl sealant.

Rooflight control:

On board control pcb housed within IP rated enclosure, concealed in framework.

Gives a non-stick surface making the glass easier to clean and keep clean, stay clean for longer and resist staining and discoloration.
