Press connector fittings with connectors manufactured from copper and gunmetal, tested in accordance with DVGW worksheet W 534, plus DVGW test seal and pipes manufactured from copper in accordance with DIN EN 1057 (DVGW worksheet GW 392).

Sealing element:

Black EPDM (ethylene propylene diene rubber), heat-resistant up to 110°C, and not resistant against hydrocarbon solvent, chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents, turpentine or petrol. It is highly resistant to ageing, ozone, sunlight, weathering and environmental influences. The high quality EPDM sealing element is protected against damage by the internal cylindrical pipe guide.

Press connectors:

The press connectors have a circumferential bead in which the sealing element lies. The connector is deformed in front of and behind the bead, and permanently connected to the pipe during pressing. The sealing element is not deformed during pressing. Viega's distinctive hexagonal pressing pattern bonds fitting and pipe and provides the mechanical strength for the connection.

The connectors may only be pressed with Viega press machines with constant pressing force (e.g. Pressgun 5, Picco, Pressgun 4E/ 4B).

With SC‑Contur, any connections which remain un-pressed become visible when the system is filled. The SC‑Contur is certified and fulfils the requirements of DVGW worksheet W 534, point 12.14, connectors with forced leakage.

Viega guarantees that unpressed connections are visible during a leakage test:

  • With the wet leakage test in the pressure range from 0.1–0.65 MPa (1.0–6.5 bar).
  • With dry leakage test in the pressure range from 22 hPa–0.3 MPa (22 mbar–3.0 bar).

Viega Profipress fittings are offered in various configurations, including:

  • Elbows and T-pieces.
  • Adapter pieces/ adapter elbows.
  • Couplings and reductions.
  • Flanges.
  • Wall plates.
  • Wall lead-ins.
  • Smartloop inliner technology; internal circulation pipes.
  • Compensators.
  • Gunmetal shut-off valves and ball valves.
  • Free-flow valves.
  • Concealed free-flow valves, concealed straight seat valves.
  • Manifolds, cross pieces.
  • Radiator connections.
  • Skirting board radiator connection pieces.
  • Accessories.

Corrosion resistance:

Depending on the area of use, corrosion protection measures may be necessary. The manufacturer suggests over-ground pipelines and fittings in rooms which do not normally require external corrosion protection.

They suggest exceptions in the following cases:

  • Contact with aggressive building materials such as nitrite, or materials containing ammonium.
  • In aggressive surroundings.

If external corrosion protection is required, the manufacturer recommends that the following regulations are followed:

  • DIN EN 806-2.
  • DIN 1988-200.
  • DKI information publication i.160.

- Using the factory fitted EPDM (polished black) sealing element:

  • Drinking water installations in accordance with DIN EN 806-1–5, DIN EN 1717 and DIN 1988 (pH value: ≥7.4, or total volume of organic carbon equals 1.5 mg/L at values between pH: 7–7.4). Consult VDI/DVGW 6023 and Drinking Water Ordinance (DWO) for further information.
  • Heating/ radiator connection.
  • Rainwater.
  • Cooling water pipelines.
  • Industry and plant engineering.
  • Fire extinguishing systems in accordance with DIN 14462.
  • Stationary sprinkler-extinguishing systems, with VdS certificate G 4980009 for the sizes DN20–50 in connection with copper pipes, in accordance with DIN EN 1057 R290 (hard).
  • Solar systems with flat collectors.
  • Tin-plated copper pipes in accordance with DIN 50930‑6.
  • Compressed air in compliance with EPDM sealing element at oil concentration: <25 mg/m³.
  • Anti-freeze, cooling brines up to a concentration of 50%.

- Using the optional FKM (matt black) sealing element:

  • Solar systems with flat/ vacuum collectors.
  • District heat suppliers and low-pressure steam systems.
  • Compressed air in compliance with FKM sealing element at oil concentration: ≥25 mg/m³.
  • Steam in low-pressure steam systems.

Components manufactured from copper may not be installed upstream from galvanized ferrous materials. The connectors may only be pressed with Viega press machines with constant pressing force (e.g. Pressgun 5, Picco, Pressgun 4E/ 4B).
