With a compressive strength of 9 N/mm², Thermoblock can be used at the base of a load-bearing walls, either replacing the bottom row of aircrete blocks, beneath the floor flab or beneath a timber frame’s sole plate to stop the cold bridge occurring.

Applications:

Designed to be placed at the base of a masonry or timber framed wall to address the thermal bridge. Can also be used in the following locations:

  • Underneath a concrete slab, below a timber frame.
  • Underneath a solid wall.
  • Underneath a door threshold.
  • Internal and party wall junction to the floor.
  • Wall junctions with non-ground floors.
  • Roof eave to wall junction.
  • At the base of parapets.

Marmox sealant is recommended for sealing the ends of the Thermoblocks together to prevent moisture intake and to ensure air tightness of the building.

Standard product features

Material:

A core of fire resistant extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation, encasing two rows of epoxy-concrete. These columns are fixed to the top and bottom surfaces of the block, which are 2.5 mm thick layers of fibre reinforced polymer concrete.

Made to order. Thermoblock-PIR, flame resistant. Designed to be resistant from distortion from flame guns.

Provides 33% more insulation than the standard Thermoblock.

It is important to ensure that walls are not narrower than the width of the Thermoblocks which they are placed upon - consult manufacturer for details.
