The Kooltherm® FM Pipe Insulation System is suitable for both new build and refurbishment projects in the residential, commercial, institutional and industrial sectors.

The Kooltherm® FM Pipe Insulation System comprises Kooltherm® FM Pipe Insulation manufactured from Kooltherm® FM rigid phenolic insulation, and Kooltherm® Insulated Pipe support Inserts fabricated from Kooltherm® High-Density rigid phenolic insulation and Kooltherm® FireSleeves.

Kooltherm® FM Pipe Insulation is used to insulate mild steel, stainless steel, copper and plastic pipework for cold, chilled, refrigeration, heating and hot water services. Kooltherm® Insulated Pipe Support Inserts are designed to be used in pipe hanger brackets for load bearing applications and will support the compressive loads imposed by horizontal pipework carrying water or other liquids.

Kooltherm® FM Pipe Insulation achieves a BRE Green Guide rating of A/A+.

Standard product features

Facings:

Kooltherm® FM Pipe Insulation and Kooltherm® Insulated Pipe Support Inserts are faced with a durable and protective factory applied aluminium foil vapour barrier jacket. The inside surface is bore coated and complies with building service specifications that require bore coated products.

Thermal conductivity:

0.021 W/m·K at 10°C Mean 0.025W/m.k.

Fire and smoke performance:

  • FM approved.
  • BS 476-6:1989 Index of performance not exceeding 12 and subindex (i1) not exceeding 6.
  • BS 476-7: 1997 Class 1.

Kooltherm® FM Pipe Insulation and Kooltherm® High-Density insulation achieve these results which enables them to be classified as Class 0 to the Building Regulations / Standards.

Closed cell content:

≥95%.

Nominal density range:

- Kooltherm® FM Pipe Insulation:

37 kg/m³.

- Kooltherm® Insulated Pipe Support Inserts:

  • 60 kg/m³.
  • 80 kg/m³.
  • 120 kg/m³.

Compressive strength (minimum):

  • 37 kg/m³: 100 kPa.
  • 60 kg/m³: 170 kPa.
  • 80 kg/m³: 340 kPa.
  • 120 kg/m³: 800 kPa.

Operating temperature limits:

-50 to +110°C.
