A typical family-friendly loft conversion, where safety & compliance meets interior design

Case Study
Fire protection was required due to the loft conversion adding additional height to the existing building and the addition of an open plan kitchen, dining area and living area to the lower basement floor.
Under the building regulations, the height and the open plan staircase meant that extra fire protection measures were needed. Cecelia and Gavin were keen to avoid the standard solutions: fire doors on every landing, which would have changed the look and feel, and a full sprinkler system, which would have required considerable labour and structural work.
Automist was put forward as a more readily retrofittable alternative.
